Homemade Christmas gift ideas from Our Holly Days

Our Holly Days is another one of our beloved Pearistas. Holly decided to create a DIY Elf-ing Treat using Pear Tree’s Christmas notelettes. We love homemade Christmas gift ideas and we wanted to share this one with our readers. Enjoy!

J & I have the sweetest neighbors. They are always bringing over toys for the boys to play with & sneaking them Squeez-It’s on hot days. Sometimes they bring their cat out to let the boys pet her & they always stop to listen to their stories.

I think elf-ing your neighbors is such a sweet idea & it’s a tradition that J & I decided to start with the kids this year. I had some extra apple butter from the batch I made, so we decided to use it for the neighbors’ elf treat. And Pear Tree’s sweet new Christmas Notelettes & Christmas gift tags/personalized stickers are perfect for elf-ing!

Christmas Notelette Idea

Isn’t this just the sweetest little thing? Anything that is miniature is automatically 10x cuter. Besides, homemade apple butter. I went ahead & brushed off both my mom win & awesome neighbor shoulders for this one.

Pear Tree Greetings is sending The Paper Mama to BlogHer 2012

thepapermamaPear Tree Greetings is excited to announce that we are sending Chelsey, The Paper Mama, to BlogHer 2012! Chelsey is a longtime Pearista and supporter of Pear Tree, loving all things paper and believing in the power of a handwritten note.

Words from Chelsey:
Writing a hand written note means a lot to me. I LOVE to send cards just randomly to tell my friends how awesome they are… to tell my sister I miss her… or to say Happy Chocolate Cupcake Day
(This is a REAL national day!). I love receiving hand written notes (*hint *hint ;D). So much better than all those bills I get!

She has contributed her many thoughts and opinions about Pear Tree on her blog, including topics around gift tag stickers, notelettes, thank you cards and more. We are happy for her to represent Pear Tree at BlogHer!

About BlogHer:
BlogHer conferences
bring together thousands of women who blog from around the world to discuss, inspire and connect with each other. This is Chelsey’s second time going and she explains some tips she learned from last year in her post ‘So you’re going to BlogHer?’.

It’s homemade—the best kind of gift!

Gift tagsMany of us love to bake during the holiday season, and share our treats with friends and neighbors. Cookies, fudge, toffee, dipped pretzels, popcorn balls, flavored oils and vinegars, liqueurs—whatever you love to make is what makes those great homemade Christmas gift ideas, because they comes from the heart.

I love opening the door to our friendly neighbor, who is hand delivering her annual gift of chocolate-covered toffee. We exchange holiday greetings and catch up on the neighborhood news. She, like everyone I know who shares the gift of their cooking, simply loves to do things for others and never expects anything more than a happy greeting in return.

Many people have favorite homemade Christmas gift ideas—usually something they’re very good at and make every year. Often, the unique packaging or festive wrapping is just as creative as the gift inside. I especially love the Christmas gift tags that proudly proclaim who made them, or the labels that make it look like they came from a professional kitchen. Personalized stickers make great labels for jars and boxes, while tie-on Christmas gift tags work well for cellophane wrapped or bagged gifts.

Even if you don’t make your own gifts this holiday season, you can make your own gift tags and keep enough on hand for those last-minute hostess gifts or gift exchanges. A gift tag that says “Holiday Greetings” makes any gift, even a bottle of wine, feel more personal.

Book stickers instead of apples for the teacher

Teacher Book TagsAnyone with a child in elementary school knows that keeping track of schoolbooks is almost as hard as keeping track of kids. Books sent home for reading assignments have a way of disappearing under the bed or between the couch cushions and reappearing a year later, at which point Mom has to figure out where they belong. That’s where our fun book stickers come in handy as great teacher gift ideas.

Book stickers are personalized stickers you place inside the front cover of a book to identify whose it is. Teachers love book stickers because they are a quick and friendly way to ensure that their books make it back to the right classroom no matter where they are found. Moms who are looking for unique teacher gift ideas, whether at the beginning of the school year, around the holidays, or at the end of the year, can’t go wrong with a set of book stickers personalized for their child’s teacher.

Many schools hold book drives or book sales as fundraisers during the school year, which is also a great time to give book stickers. During these events families purchase books for their kids and teachers purchase, or receive as gifts, books they need for their classrooms. A percentage of the profits goes toward the school or PTA/PTO projects. If your school has a book drive, think about supplementing your gift of a book for your child’s classroom with a set of book stickers for the teacher. It’s better than an apple any day!
